Apollo Home Healthcare is recruiting a dedicated and compassionate Health Care Assistant with a genuine interest in working with children and young people to join one of our existing teams, supporting the parents to care for their son.
This young person is based in Stockport and has a neuromuscular condition that primarily affects his muscles that are used for moving and breathing.
He is fully dependant on his devoted parents and dedicated care team for all his needs. Therefore, as part of his team, you will play an essential role in promoting his independence and assisting him to live the lifestyle he chooses.
We have the following day and night shifts available
The young person is non-verbal and communicates through a specialised tablet, so patience and understanding are vitally important qualities in order to allow him to make his own choices and ensure his voice is heard.
His interests include watching TV, listening to music, playing on his IPad and enjoying other people's company especially when they are singing and being silly! He has a fun and friendly personality with a great sense of humour and a very loving nature.
It is essential that Health Care Assistants have at least 6 months previous hands-on care experience. Experience in complex care is an advantage but not essential as we provide an extensive training programme by registered nurses who will fully support you throughout the process and will be conducted at your own pace. Training will be during the day (for day or night staff) and will involve various shift times around our clients needs.
Once the training has been successfully completed and competencies have been achieved, you will support the young person to a high standard of care with ongoing support from both the parents and the existing team.
This position will be ideal for someone who would like to develop their existing knowledge and skills in complex care with children or young people. You must be a good team player with excellent communication skills and be able to develop a collaborative working relationship with the parents which is non-judgemental and sensitive to the home environment.
You must be a genuine, fun and kind person who really enjoys the company of children and young people with special needs and skilled in interacting and engaging with them, especially singing and dancing and being silly which is essential!
If you are interested, please do not hesitate to apply! For any other enquiries you can contact our dedicated recruitment team on 01902 847111 or email us on email@example.com.
