Are you experienced in providing Complex Care to children and young people?
Apollo Home Healthcare are seeking experienced Health Care Assistants to support a teenage boy with his complex care needs.
We are looking for dedicated and compassionate Health Care Assistants who are passionate about their job, enjoy delivering one to one support and who can build positive relationships with our service users and their families.
You will have a genuine interest in working with children and young people in order to join our existing team in supporting the parents to care for their son.
The young person you would be caring for has a neuromuscular condition that primarily affects his muscles that are used for moving and breathing.
He is fully dependant on his devoted parents and dedicated care team for all his needs both at home and his trips out. Therefore, as part of his team, you will play an essential role in promoting his independence and assisting him to live the lifestyle he chooses.
The young person is non-verbal and communicates through a specialised tablet, so patience and understanding are vitally important qualities in order to allow him to make his own choices and ensure his ‘voice’ is heard.
His interests include watching TV, listening to music, playing on his IPad and enjoying other people's company especially when they are singing and being silly! He has a fun and friendly personality with a great sense of humour and very loving nature.
Experience in complex care is an advantage but not essential, as we provide an extensive training programme by registered nurses who will fully support you throughout the process and will be conducted at your own pace.
Once the training has been successfully completed and competencies have been achieved, you will support the young person to a high standard of care with ongoing support from both the parents and the existing team.
This position will be ideal for someone who would like to develop their existing knowledge and skills in complex care with children or young people. You must be a good team player with excellent communication skills and be able to develop a collaborative working relationship with the parents which is non-judgemental and sensitive to the home environment.
You must be a genuine, fun and kind person who really enjoys the company of children and young people with special needs and skilled in interacting and engaging with them, especially singing and dancing and being silly which is essential!
