Clinical Lead
I joined Apollo Home Healthcare in 2017 as a Clinical Nurse Specialist based at the Peterborough office. It was a daunting experience, transitioning from the NHS into the private sector. However, 6 years on and I have never looked back.
Prior to my nursing career, complex care was a sector I thoroughly enjoyed working in and although there were aspects of complex care that I wasn’t familiar with, Apollo Home Healthcare were able to offer me full training until I felt competent in delivering all clinical tasks.
My role as Clinical Lead involves working closely with the Head of Clinical and Quality and collaboratively with our nursing and office teams. Our focus and aims are to support the Nursing Team in providing a safe and effective approach to delivering the best person-centred care for our clients.
A typical day for me consists of visiting our offices to provide support to the Nursing Team. This can include clinical supervisions and observations of frontline healthcare staff and providing clinical advice for our packages of care.
The part of my role that I enjoy the most is supporting with audits, such as when the CQC come to visit us. I also really enjoy setting out action plans for our teams to ensure we continue to offer only the highest quality of care for our clients.
The most challenging part of my role as Clinical Lead is in making myself available to the whole business, to support them where they need me the most. It’s a busy and fast-paced role and I can often be required to provide clinical support and advice for our teams up and down the country.
Working with a company like Apollo Home Healthcare has enabled me to progress my career and expand my skills. From joining as a Clinical Nurse Specialist and succeeding into the Clinical Lead role, they have given me the opportunity to achieve personal goals.
I love that delivering a safe and person-centred care service is of the highest importance to every one of us who works here. The purpose of the organisation to provide a complex care service that we would expect our own family members to receive really resonated with me.
