Charlotte - Apollo Home Healthcare

Charlotte

Deputy Manager – North West

I joined Apollo Home Healthcare in August 2017 when looking for a new role in the health sector in complex care. I applied for several roles as a Healthcare Assistant and was then approached for the Consultant’s position. I remember being beside myself with excitement as I never thought I’d be asked to do such a role and felt it was an amazing opportunity. I jumped at the chance having experience in complex healthcare and combing a new role.

My role is varied and can be very different from the day to day. Being Deputy Manager, I often help alongside my manager dealing with internal and field staff. My other role is implementing all new packages coming through and help our families and newly recruited care staff by creating a unique personalised care packages for them. This is the part of the role I thoroughly enjoy, although it can be stressful at times, it brings me joy that I am helping families and individuals to get back home and enabling them to live as independently as possible in their own homes.

No day is the same and its forever changeable. I can be implementing care packages and attending Multidisciplinary Teams meetings at the children’s hospital we work very closely with Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital or going out to see families in their own homes along with our nurses. Other days I can be based in the office liaising with existing clients and care workers and working alongside my team helping to support with the day to day tasks in the office.

I love the variety of the job and how things change and are so fast paced. The thing I enjoy the most is getting families home, doing a good job for them and changing peoples lives for the better.

The most challenging part of my role is not being able to achieve what we had planned for our clients and discussing this with the family, sometimes having to let them down on their expectations due to unforeseen circumstances.

I started working here in 2017 as a Consultant and overtime, after learning the role and getting to grips with it all, I started to assist our commercial manager with the TUPE processes, and I’m now the office TUPE consultant. I then started to attend meetings and get involved in the implementation of new packages of care, and from there I applied to be Deputy Manager in February 2020.

What I love the most is the care, compassion and the processes. Everyone turns up and gives 100% and really cares about the work we do. The processes are long and take time and can sometimes be difficult, but they are the best way and the only way I would want to do things moving forward.

The passion between everyone to deliver great quality care is  just amazing.

I wanted to thank you for my loyalty and recognition bonus. It was so unexpected and will be put to good use as we move into our new journey as parents. I really appreciate your generosity and having my hard work acknowledged. I really enjoy being part of your team and wish you all many blessings.
