Senior Recruitment & Compliance Consultant – Central Office

I Joined Apollo Home Healthcare in September 2018. I was attracted to the role as I had been in a previous care company doing a similar role but was unable to progress any further.  I was looking for a new challenge and Apollo Home Healthcare had a welcoming feel, good benefits including your birthday off each year and opportunities for me to progress my career.  

As the team has grown, I have recently been promoted to Senior Recruitment Consultant. As well as managing my own staff files I also oversee that other members of the team are following the correct processes and working within the timescales required.

My role involves overseeing the day-to-day tasks of the central compliance team, managing a candidate log of over 150 pending candidates. The role includes processing DBS checks, auditing files, chasing references, and signing-off candidates as ready to work. Our recruitment and vetting process is very thorough and stringent ensuring that we only recruit staff who meet our high standards of care and who can meet the needs of our service users. 

A typical day includes auditing new staff files, working through outstanding compliance elements for pending staff, liaising with the local offices to ensure we get the documents we need from the candidates.  I spend a lot of time on the telephone speaking with candidates about their application, checking references, DBS applications, etc, signing-off files which have been through the compliance process and looking at numbers each day for audits/reaudits for the team.  

I love the variety in my role and the satisfaction I get when we achieve a sign-off of a candidate within the targeted number of days. I have learned to adapt the plan when something happens to change things. My role can sometimes be pressured as staff will be required to start packages of care for our service users, so we always need to ensure that we are prioritising the right tasks to keep things moving forwards.

Apollo Home Healthcare is a great place to work, I find my role to be varied and challenging, yet extremely rewarding, especially when we get our candidates signed-off quickly to help get packages of care started, sometimes at short notice, for our service users.
