Virginia - Apollo Home Healthcare

Virginia

Recruitment & Compliance Consultant – East Office

I joined Apollo Home Healthcare in February 2021 as Recruitment and Compliance Consultant, after carrying out the recruitment role in my previous position as a Care Coordinator, which I really enjoyed.

Each day I conduct interviews for care staff and once they are successful, I will arrange relevant training and gather identification and references, ensuring new staff are fully compliant to commence work with us.

Each week I liaise with our consultants, gathering information about our new care packages ready for a job advert for relevant care staff to be placed.

Once a week I will complete the payroll process, ensuring all care staff are paid and process any annual leave requests, ensuring suitable staff cover is arranged for our clients.  I also have the pleasure in completing the company induction for new carers.

A typical day for me includes checking the office calendar first thing for the appointments and interviews I have that day and collating interview packs ready for the interviews. I’ll then complete all interviews and decide if candidates are the correct fit for our clients and the requirements of the package of care that they have applied for. I will then process their application, arrange relevant training, and start work on their compliance checks.

I will then look at our candidate log and chase up any outstanding compliance checks and look through our audits, actioning anything that is required. Throughout the day I will liaise with our central compliance team, working together with them to sign off our new recruits without delay.

The most challenging part of my role is balancing Training vs Shifts. Ensuring our existing care staff keep on top of their training and carrying out compliance checks can be a demanding and time-consuming part of my job!

I truly love everything about my role; however, my favourite aspect of the role would be interviewing candidates.  I love meeting new people from all walks of life and getting to know more about their journey into health and social care.

I love the people I work with, I love the whole Apollo family, from my office in the East and colleagues throughout the company.  I couldn’t wish to work with nicer people.

After nearly 20 years of domiciliary care experience, I made the leap into recruitment, and I have never been happier.  Apollo Home Healthcare provide a lovely working environment and such supportive peers.

My role starts with conducting interviews and goes all the way through to ensuring new staff are compliant and ready to carry out their first shift with us.  I also like to involve myself with other offices and learning the part everyone plays in the success of the business.

Could I take also take this opportunity to say how appreciated it is to be valued in this way, especially in light of the past year we’ve all had, if you could pass on my gratitude, thank you.
