I joined Apollo Home Healthcare in July 2021 and was attracted by the fast-paced nature and structure of the role. Being used to hands-on care, I wanted a change where I could still make a real difference to others. No two days are ever the same, which makes everything even more exciting.

My role entails managing our staff rotas ensuring we have sufficient care staff for our clients, carrying out compliance checks for new staff, managing our complex care packages and ensuring we’re meeting the ever-changing complex needs of our clients, managing any incidents and complaints and discussing our complex care packages with other healthcare professionals.

A typical day for me would include communicating with our clients, their parents or guardian where necessary, ensure rotas are fully staffed, booking meet and greet appointments for our new care staff with their clients, liaising with our recruitment and compliance consultants and speaking with Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs).

What I love most about my role is making a difference to others lives. I’d never really worked with complex needs before – it was a real eye opener and a huge learning curve for me. I feel, since working at Apollo Home Healthcare, that I have gained so many more skills than those I originally had. Every day is a school day!

The most challenging part of my role has been Covid, because I haven’t been able to meet all of our clients in person, which is challenging. Hopefully now the restrictions are lifting I will be able to meet them and get to know them a little better.

During my time with Apollo Home Healthcare, I have also had the opportunity to complete several shifts with one of our lovely clients, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I have also been trained by our quality lead to FIT test staff, ensuring they are able to wear a FFP3 mask correctly. These masks ensure there are no gaps and are crucial for some of our most vulnerable clients.

The thing I love most about working at Apollo Home Healthcare is the care and compassion everyone here has for our clients, and how we go above and beyond to ensure they can live their best life. Also, how I’ve met so many people along the way!

My role is fun, varied and fast-paced. I have such a great and supportive team! Apollo offer many great opportunities and encourage staff to grow their career!
